Music
Music is a unique way of communicating that can inspire and motivate children. It is a vehicle for personal expression and it can play an important part in the personal development of our young people. Music reflects the culture and society in which we live, and so the teaching and learning of music enables children to better understand the world they live in. Besides being a creative and enjoyable activity, music can also be a highly academic and demanding subject. It also plays an important part in helping children feel part of a creative, enjoyable community. We provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music, to develop the skills to appreciate a wide variety of musical forms, and to begin to make judgements about the quality of the varied genres of music. We believe that Music should be an integral part of every child’s education throughout primary school. At Elworth CE Primary we following the 'Charanga' scheme of work.
We also provide the children with regular annual opportunities to perform or watch performances. We do this through a number of projects, including Rex the Dinosaur Adventures (EYFS), Barnaby Bear Adventures (KS1), Wider Opportunities Whole Class Brass Tuition (Y3), Wider Opportunities Whole Class Woodwind Tuition (Y4) and Young Voices (UKS2).
We also provide the opportunity for children to take part in individual and small group peripatetic instrument lessons. These are also provided by Love Music Trust. Please speak to Reception regarding instruments available and termly costs.
