Our Commitment to Inclusion

At Elworth CE Primary School, we are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where every child is valued, respected and supported to flourish.

We believe that all children should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential, regardless of their individual needs or starting points. We work closely with pupils, families and external professionals to identify and remove barriers to learning, ensuring that every child can access a broad, balanced and enriching curriculum.

Our approach is guided by the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice (2015). Through high-quality teaching, appropriate support and reasonable adjustments, we strive to meet the needs of all learners and promote positive outcomes academically, socially and emotionally.

We recognise that every child is unique. By understanding individual strengths, interests and areas of need, we aim to provide the support and opportunities needed for children to develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

We are committed to ensuring that children with SEND are able to participate fully in all aspects of school life, including clubs, educational visits, residential experiences, worship, performances and leadership opportunities. Reasonable adjustments are made wherever necessary to promote inclusion and participation.

As a church school, our Christian values underpin all that we do. We are proud of our inclusive community and are committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued and supported to thrive.

How We Support Children with SEND

At Elworth CE Primary School, SEND is everyone's responsibility. We believe that all children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress, achieve their best and become confident individuals.

We follow a graduated approach to identifying and supporting pupils with SEND. This process follows the cycle of:

Assess → Plan → Do → Review

Through this approach, we carefully assess children's needs, work collaboratively with parents and carers, implement appropriate support and regularly review progress to ensure that provision remains effective and responsive.

Support may include:

• High-quality adaptive teaching in the classroom.
• Targeted interventions to develop specific skills.
• Small-group or individual support where appropriate.
• Advice and support from specialist external agencies.
• Reasonable adjustments to enable full participation in school life.

Our aim is to help every child develop independence, confidence and resilience while achieving the best possible outcomes.

 

Cheshire East Local Offer

The Cheshire East Local Offer provides information about services and support available for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 0–25. This includes support across education, health and social care, together with services offered by voluntary, community and private organisations.

Cheshire East Information, Advice and Support Service (CEIAS)

CEIAS offers free, impartial and confidential information, advice and support for children and young people with SEND, and for their parents and carers.

Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum (CEPCF)

The Cheshire East Parent Carer Forum welcomes all parents and carers of children and young people with SEND. Members can access information, training and peer support, while also sharing their experiences to help shape and improve local SEND services.

Parent Workshops, Webinars and Training

 

Parent Coffee Mornings

We recognise the importance of supporting not only our pupils, but also their families.

Each term, we host a SEND Parent Coffee Morning at St Peter's Church Hall, featuring guest speakers from education, health, social care and voluntary organisations. Previous sessions have covered topics such as autism, anxiety, emotional wellbeing, transitions and local SEND services.

These informal sessions provide an opportunity for parents and carers to:

• Learn more about SEND-related topics and support services.
• Access advice from specialist professionals.
• Share experiences and ideas with other parents and carers.
• Build supportive connections within our school community.

The coffee mornings are open to all parents and carers of pupils with SEND and are a valuable opportunity to learn together in a welcoming and supportive environment.

 

If You Have Concerns

If you have concerns about your child's learning, development or wellbeing, please speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance.

You may also contact our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), who will be happy to discuss any concerns and explain how we can work together to support your child.

Early identification and effective partnership working are key to ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time.
